How to Help - Ace Charity Org

ACE is a registered charity organisation but receives no state subsidy or other kinds of public contributions from any country. The charity, El Refugio, is entirely paid for by donations and all work is done by unpaid volunteers.

On behalf of all our homeless dogs, ACE thanks the many who up till now have made it possible to continue our work, we are, however, troubled about the future. New dogs arrive almost every day and also these dogs need shelter, food, and veterinary attention.

There are many ways to help:

You can adopt a dog! Please read our "How to Adopt" page. To contact one of our Adoption counsellors please visit our Contact Us page.
You can sponsor the keep of a dog – also a dog of you own choice - for a week, or a full month, or until we are able to find it a new home. You can even visit the dog to see if it thrives. The costs are 15 € per month. We use this money to pay for the dog's cage-rental, which is 50 € a month, his food, daily care and veterinary costs. As soon as you have made your choice which dog you want to foster, please send Maries van den Plas an e-mail ( mariesvandenplas@gmail.com ) with all your details and the name and ID number of the dog you want to foster, and transfer your donation to our ACE Bank Account. As soon as we have received confirmation, we will mention your name on the dog's homepage, see our database. If your fosterdog is being adopted, we will inform you with the details of his/her new boss, so you can stay in contact with them and your fosterdog.
You can take over the cost of renting a cage – a cage costs € 50 per month.
You can be one of our new volunteers! Please contact info@ace-charity.org and see how you can contribute.
You can become a member of ACE:
for 15 € you will receive a membershipcard for 1 year (January till December), and 4 times a year you reveive a booklet with news from ACE and our dogs.

If you see any case of maltreatment, please report this to the SEPRONA dept. of the Guardi Civil...This is the only way to reduce maltreatment, as the fines can be quite high. Read the "Ley de Protección de los Animales" here...(only in Spanish/solo en Español).

ACE also needs:

Blankets, old sheets, pillows, towels for the dogs to sleep on.

Collars, leashes, old dog baskets and transport cages - also cat size for small dogs.

Baby jackets for puppies to keep them warm.

You can sponsor some of your time. All work with the dogs is done by our English speaking volunteers and although we have a small group of loyal helpers, we need more help. The dogs will love you if you can spare a couple of hours a week to come to El Refugio and take the dogs for a walk.

We URGENTLY need fosterhomes for old, weak and newly operated dogs, and puppies.

Manual or financial help towards building a special room for disinfecting and washing the dogs upon arrival.
Manual or financial help towards building a small office and reception at El Refugio.
